A Good Night, Sleep Tight StoryBook　をご紹介します。
イギリスの出版社Drandreams Limitedの本です。

こちらは、Good Night　つまり、子供を寝かしつけるときに、枕元でお母さんが読んであげるベッドタイムストーリーの本です。
古典的な童話が主体ですが、だいたいRe-Told してあって、よりやさしい物語になっている感じがあります。

ホンの体裁は、以前ご紹介したLADYBIRD絵本と似たタイプで、日本の文庫本を横向きの２冊並べた縦・横サイズ、厚さ５ミリのハードカバータイプ絵本です。

このシリーズは、検索したところ、アマゾンで４８冊揃っていますので、名作童話のカラフルでやさしい絵本を、わりと手軽に読むことができそうです。

英文は、イギリス系ということもあるのでしょうが、絵本系の中では、やさしい部類に属すると思います。
中学３年生くらいならば、比較的楽に読み進められる物語と思います。

では、さっそく、このうちの２冊をみてゆきましょう。
かなりの皆さんがご存知の、でも細かい内容は忘れてしまったと思われます、
(1)３匹の子豚　(2)ヘンゼルとグレーテル　です。

三匹の子豚は、少し長く、みてみたいと思います。
ヘンゼルとグレーテルは、さわりだけですが。

(1)The Three Little Pigs

A lomg time ago and far away there lived a Mother Pig and her three sons.The three Little Pigs were growing bigger and bigger every day.
 “ It really is time you moved out and made home for yourselves,” said Mother Pig one day.
“ This place isn’t big enough for all of us.”

The very next day the three Little Pigs moved out, taking their belongings with them.
“ Watch out for the Big Bad Wolf.” Said Mother Pig as they left.
 They set off down the road and came to a crossroads.Each Litte Pig went in different direction.

The youngest one headed for the fields.
“ I want to have fun,” he said.” My house will be very quick to build.” He cut lots of hay and straw and made himself a straw house with a thatched roof.

The house was soon finished and he moved in at the end of the day. His house may have been quick but it wasn’t very strong.
Someone had been watched him while he had building it. The Big Bad Wolf in the forest nearby was very fond of Little Pigs. He liked eating them!

The youngest Little Pig had settled down for the evening when there was a knock at his door.
“ Who’s there? ” asked the Little Pig. No one knew where he lived yet.
“ Let m in,Little Pig, let me in,” said a deep voice. “Or by the hair on my chinny chin chin, I'll blow your house down.”
 “ It’s the Big Bad Wolf,” cried the Little Pig. “ Just like Mother Pig said.”
“ Open the door, Little Pig, “said the Big Bad Wolf again.
“ No ! “ shouted the Little Pig. “ I won’t let you in! “

“ Then,” said the Big Bad Wolf. “ I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down! “
 The Big Bad Wolf huffed and he puffed, and he blew the straw house down.The Little Pig ran and ran..

ゴメンナサイ、どうもですね、これよくわからないんです。挨拶代わりの脅し文句みたいなの、ですけれど。
I'll blow your house down：家を吹き飛ばしてやるぜ

The scond Little Pig had headed for the wood.
“ I want to spend time looking in the woods, not building ma house,” he said “My house will be very quick to build.” He said. He gathered lots of twigs and sticks and made himself a house of sticks.

The second Little Pig met the first Little Pig running along the road to the crossroads where they had separated such a short while before. They set off down the road that their older brother had taken.

The third Little Pig had decided to make a good, strong house for himself.
“ I don’t want to be eaten by the Big Bad Wolf,” he said. He headed for the town and bought lots of bricks and cement and then , some way out of town, he built his new home.
 His house was made of bricks and would not fall down in a puff of wind. He had windows and a chimney, and a rocking chair in front of the fire.

The little Pig’s house was not built in a day, so he went the night in a very comfortable hotel.
When his house was ready, he moved in. He had just settled down to an evening in front of the fire when there was a knock at the door.
“ Who’s there? “ he asked.
“ It’s us,your brothers! “ cried the two younger Little Pigs. “ Let us in, the Big Bad Wolf is after us.”
 The third Little pig jumped up to let them in. he couldn’t let the horrible wolf catch his young brothers.

The two Little Pigs told their older brother what had happened.
“ That’s what comes from not building proper houses,” he told them. “ We’ll be safe here.”

“ What is he carrying? “ asked the second Little Pig.
“ It’s a ladder! “ said the third Little pig.
“ And I think I know what he plans to do with it.”
 The two younger Little Pig watched the Big Bad Wolf as he came nearer to the house. The older Little Pig was bustling round by the fireplace.
“ I think this will soon put a stop to his games, “ said the third Little Pig.

 He had quickly made a fire and it was beginning to burn well. He moved a huge pot onto the fire and filled it with water.
He rubbed his hands together
“ What.are we going to do? ” cried the two Little Pigs.
“ Listen, you can hear him. He’s on the roof. What shall we do? “
 “ Nothing, “ said their brother. “ I’ve done it. Wait and see what happens. After this we won’t be bother by the Big Bad Wolf again.”

(2)HANSEL & GRETEL

A long time ago and far away , there lived a poor woodcutter and his family. Tims were very hard and the woodcutter was finding it very difficult to feed his wife and children.
One night, the woodcutter’s wife spoke to him.
“ Husband,” she said slowly. “ If the children were not here, would there be enough food for us? “
“ Yes, “ said the woodcutter, wondering what his wife was going to say.
“ If we take them into the dorest, “ she said, “ someone will probably find them.”
“ Are you suggesting that we just leave them there? “ asked the woodcutter. “ I can’t do that. “
“ We will all die if we don’t do something, “ said his wife.
“ I can’t do it, “said the woodcutter, and he turned over and went to sleep.

まあ、童話の継母は、だいたいこうですね。
この本の、ヘンゼルとグレーテルの物語は、一応パッピーエンドなんですけれど。

musselwhite　さん、確かに、「３匹のこぶた」は保育園か幼稚園で読む感じの絵本ですね。

どうしましても、絵本の紹介が多くなってしまうのです。
全体としてはやさしい洋書：児童書というのは、多いのですが、部分的に、どうしても難しい部分を含んでいるものが多くてですね。
日本の中学生・高校生、ということを考慮しますと、現地的には、だいたい８才以下のものが主体になる、という感じになります。

もうちょっと大人的なものを、紹介したいとは思うのですが・・・。

ご訪問＆ナイス、ありがとうございます。

やはり、童心に返るといいますと、ロンパールーム、は良かったですね。
３匹のこぶた、も、けっこう好きだった話なのですが、ちょっと狼がかわいそうなんですね。
よく赤ずきんちゃんと、混同されて記憶されている人がいるのです。狼、出てきますので。

次回は、少し年齢を上げて、ご紹介したいと思います。

再び、こんにちは です。
いやいや、私の英語力の話です。
言葉が足りず、申し訳有りませんでした。

中学までは、特に苦手意識は無かったのですが、高校で教科書に「ロメオとジュリエット」が使われてからどうも苦手になって仕舞い、今まも続いて居るんです。
勉強させて頂きます。

昔の文部省は、そういうのが好きなんですね。古典の名作とか、文豪とかですね。
でも、さる英語塾の先生の情報によると、どうもそういう授業はなくなる傾向にあるようです。

当方も、高校のときの教材は嫌いでした。それに、英語も、高校入試の際は、実際のところ、一番の苦手科目だったんです（都立の入試で、国語は９０点超でしたが、英語は５５点）。

社会人で実務的に仕方なく少しやりましたが、
その後長年ご無沙汰し、
つい５年前ぐらいに、この本のような「本当にやさしい絵本」から読み始めて、１年でペーパーバックを曲がりなりに読めるようになった、というのが実情です。

やさしい本を、いろいろとご紹介するのも、自分が中学生ぐらいからこういう本を読んでいたら、もうちょっと英語が出来るようになったのになあ、と思うゆえんです。

１個だけ、ラストのオチが気に入っているヤツがあるんです。
My Father's Dragon のend をそのまま写したヤツ。著者のセンスなのですが、ですね。

当方、ももきち工場さんのようなモノ作りの才もなく、マチャさんのような深い考察もできず、みー☆さんのように多くの方に包まれる愛情もなく、
タダタダ、クダクダ書いております。

まあ、他のブログにないことをする、という特色はありますが。
ブログ紹介家＆やさしい洋書本紹介家として、しばらく活動したいと思います。宜しくお願いします。

それにしても、ですね、自転車　or 図書館 を　記述に載せているホン、それに触れている文、これをどうやって探し出せるのか皆目見当がつきません。
膨大なホンの海のなかから、本を読んで、そして見つけ出されているのだとは思いますが。
しかも、この短期間に、これをまとめられるとは！

本大好き・読書好きの当方にとっては、とってもステキな頁の連続です。
あとですね、フロフィールの絵がイイですね。
グットきます。
