LITTLE BEAR シリーズ

皆様、長らくのご無沙汰、申し訳ございません。
新規一転、少しずつですが、やさしい洋書をご紹介したいと思います。

さて、９月のトップバッターですが、
LITTLE BEAR 君に登場していただきます。
著者は、ELSE HOLMELUND MINARIK
絵の方は、MAURICE SENDAK

名作絵本として名高い、シリーズです。
カナダでは、アニメシリーズとして長期にわたって番組が制作され、世界中で放映されていました。

英語の本の方は、An I CAN READ Book に収録されたお話の中から、いくつかを、みてゆきたいと思います。

いずれも、愛らしいLITTLE BEAR とその仲間（Duckなど）、MotherBear　/FatherBear などの家族の物語が、やさしい英文で綴られています。
各本、約６０ページぐらいですが、字も大きく１ページの文字数も少ないので、適度な量だと思います。

この英文は、中学２年生でも、わりあい楽に読めるぐらい、やさしいと思います。
An I CAN READ のLEVEL 1（一番やさしい）で、ネイティブのAges 4 to 8となっています。

An I CAN READのシリーズ本は、全部で５冊あるのですが、残念ながら当方のところには、まだ３冊しか揃っておりません。LITTLE BEARがなく、LITTLE BEAR’S FRIENDは４冊もあります。HAHA。

LITTLE BEAR’S FRIENDの中から、Little Bear and Emilyをちょっと。

Little Bear and Emily

Little Bear sat in the top of high tree.
He looked all about him at the wide, wide world.


He saw the green hills.
He saw the river.
And far,far away he saw the blue sea.
He saw the top of trees.
He saw his own house.
He saw Mother Bear.
He could hear the wind sing.
And he could feel the wind
on his fur, on his eyes,
on his Little black nose.

He shut his eyes,
and let the wind brush him.

He opened his eyes,
And saw two little squirrels.
“ Play with us,” they said.

“ No time,” said Little Bear.
“ I have to go home for lunch.”

次いで、LITTLE BEAR’S VISIT の中から、Grandmother and Grandfather Bearと、Mother Bear’s Robinを、それぞれちょびっと。

Grandmother and Grandfather Bear

One day Little Bear came to visit Grandmother and Grandfather Bear in their little house in the woods.
This was something Little Bear liked to do.
 

He liked to look at all the nice things,
the pictures,
Grandmother’s floweres,
Grandfather’s toy goblin that jumpes up and down in a jar.
He liked to put on Grandfather’s big hat and say, ” Look at me! ”
And he liked Grandmother’s cooking very,very much.

He had some bread and jam,
cake and cookies ,
Milk and honey,
And an apple.
“Have some more,” said Grandmother.
“ Yes, thank you,” said little bear.
“ Iam not eating too much, am I? ”
“ Oh , no, no! “ said his Grandmother.
Then Grandfather said to Little Bear,
“ We will have lots of fun today, you and I.
“ Yes,” said Little Bear.
" But father Bear told me not to make you tired.”
“ Me –tired? ” said grandfather.
“ How  can you make me tired? I am never tired! “
He got up and a little jig.
“ Never tired! “ he said,
and sat down.

Mother Bear’s Robin

One spring day,
ｗhen　Mother Bear was Little,
she found a baby robin in the garden.
A baby robin, too little to fly.
“ Oh, how sweet you are,” she said.
“ Where did you come from?”
“ From my nest,” said the robin.

“ And where is your nest, little robin? Asked Mother Bear.
“ I think it is up there,” said the robin.
No, that was a bluebird’s nest.
“ Maybe it is over there,”
said the robin.

No that was a oriole’s nest.

Mother Bear looked all over,
But could not find a robin’s nest.

You can live with me,” she said.
“you can be my robin.”

She took the robin in the house,　and made a little home for it.

“Little Bear,” said Mother Bear,
“ Can you be fisherman? ”
“ Yes, I can, ” said Little bear.
“ Good,” said Mother Bear.
“ Will you go down to the river? Will you catch a fish for us? “
“ Yes , I will,” said Little Bear.

So little bear went down to the river.
And there he saw Owl.
Owl was sitting on a log.

“ Hello, Little bear,” said Owl.
“ Hello, Owl,” said Little bear.
“ Father Bear is not home.
He is fishing on the ocean.
But Mother bear wants a fish now, so I have to catch one.”
“ Good,” said Owl.
” Catch one.”

Little Bear fished.
“ I have one,” he said.
“Is it too little?”
“ It looks good to me,” said Owl.
“Well,” said Little Bear,
“Father bear can catch big fish.　He sails in a big boat, too.”
Owl said,
“ Someday you will be a big bear.
You will catch big fish.
And you will sail in a boat, like Father Bear.”

いかかでしょうか？
このシリーズは、絵がとてもいい雰囲気を出していますね。
英文も、わかりやすくて、ほのぼのと物語が展開していくので、
中･高生にオススメのシリーズです。
少なくとも、１度は読みたい、そんな感じの本ですね。

Little Bearシリーズのアニメは、長期にわたって放映されていましたので、そのアニメ動画のいくつかが、Youtubeにアップされています。
アニメのリトル・ベアーは、本よりも少し大人びた感じがするのですが、愛らしいところは変わっていません。アニメの声は、それほど遅くない中間程度の速さで、慣れない向きには、少し聴き取りづらいかもしれません。
参考までに、一つお借りしてきました。

実は、他のブログで、ブログめぐりをしておりまして、ちょうど風来鶏さまのブログを紹介させていただいているところでした。
本当に、良いブログですね。
また、お邪魔しますので、宜しくお願いします。

中学の英語については、当方も、そう思っています。
教科書は別として、学校の図書室にでも、こんなものがあって、先生が少し導いてくれれば、英語ももっと楽しかったろうと思います。

全部の公立中学・高校に、こういう本を常備するのが、当方の目標です。

マチャさま、やっと新しい本をご紹介できました。
ちょっとカメさんに酔いしれておりまして。

先頃、奈良de～の方のブログと、みー☆さまのブログを拝見することができ、やはり、ブログめぐりをどんどんしたいと感じております。
それにしても、奈良の風景はステキです。

ホント、まだ触れていない、とてもいいブログが、ソネット内に山ほどありますね。sony大好きの当方、もっともっと巡ろうと思います。

ため息の午後さま、たびたび恐縮です。
奈良の山々におつる夕日、ステキでした。

写真は、どこにも素材があると申しますが、やはり、奈良は別格のように思います。それだけに、難しいこともございましょうが。
当方も、チョットだけ写真をかじっておりましたので、いい写真を見ると、こころが安らぎます。
